About Us

Our History and Founder

As a premier general, industrial, and marine contractor, Stewart Construction employs the best craftsmen, equipment, and procedures to exceed our customers’ expectations—on time, every time.

History

Stewart Construction began in 1983 as a land-based contractor serving local petroleum tank farms. A few years later we purchased our first crane and barge and began servicing waterfront facilities, connecting our customers' waterfront docks to their tank farms. Thanks to our dedicated staff and our commitment to integrity and personal service, Stewart Construction continues to grow as we serve our customers’ chemical, petrochemical, grain elevators and heavy industrial facilities along the lower Mississippi River.

Founder

John N. Stewart IV founded Stewart Construction on his personal guiding principles of honesty, integrity, and hard work. A professional civil engineer, John discovered a passion early in life for both design and construction, with a particular interest in inland marine structures. Combining these passions with strong values, John has led Stewart Construction for over 35 years, serving customers from Baton Rouge to the mouth of the River.
